How Zipit keeps 4,943 assets inspection-ready

Overview

Zipit Forest Adventures has been running high ropes and zipline courses in Irish forests since 2013, welcoming over 100,000 visitors a year across sites in Dublin, Cork, Roscommon and Wicklow, with a fifth park opening in Kildare in 2026. Every course is built around a continuous belay system and colour-coded circuits, and every part of that equipment — from cable to carabiner — has to be inspected and logged. Here’s how the team uses Risk Memo to do it across five sites at once.

Zipit’s parks — Tibradden Wood, Farran Park, Lough Key, Djouce Park, and the upcoming Donadea site — each run several colour-coded circuits, from Initiation courses for younger visitors up to advanced Red and Black routes, plus ziplines strung between the trees. Three of the parks sit within Coillte-managed woodland, so the courses are built into a working forest rather than a purpose-built site. Every visitor gets a full safety briefing from an ERCA-certified instructor before heading up.

Risk Memo across five parks

With five sites, multiple circuits per site, and thousands of individual pieces of equipment, Zipit’s Risk Memo account currently holds 4,943 active equipment records — every carabiner, harness, helmet and length of cable tracked back to its own inspection history.

Templates are organised by park and by circuit, so each site’s team is only ever looking at the checklist relevant to them:

• Circuit Operational Inspection Reports — a dedicated template for every colour-coded circuit at every park: Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Red, White and Initiation 1–3 at Tibradden Wood, Farran Park and Lough Key; High Ropes and Junior Ropes at Djouce Park; Orange, Yellow, Blue and Red at Donadea, ready ahead of its 2026 opening
• Daily Opening and Closing Operations — routine visual inspections and opening tasks, and end-of-day closing tasks, for each of the five parks
• End-of-Year Closing Checklists — the tasks needed to close a site down for the season
• PPE Inspection and Hazard Report & Risk Assessment — for equipment checks and on-the-spot risk reporting
• Training and assessment templates — covering cabin training, manager training, harness training, refresher training, rescue practice logs and staff assessment across the wider Zipit Forest Adventures (ZFA) team
• Operational Audits — site-wide audits run across all Zipit parks
